Sendang Gile and Tiu Kelep Waterfalls Visit
Sendang Gile and Tiu Kelep waterfalls are nestled at the foot of Mount Rinjani, located in Senaru village. Before heading to the waterfalls, we need to purchase entrance tickets. Sendang Gile waterfall is the first stop, situated closer to the entrance and reachable with a 20-minute walk. This proximity makes it a popular spot for both domestic and international visitors. The path to the waterfall takes you through a scenic protected forest, part of the Rinjani National Park, with comfortable stairs made from small and large stones.
Next, we proceed to Tiu Kelep waterfall, which requires a 40-minute trek on foot. The route is more challenging, with steep stairs and shallow, clear rivers to cross. Along the way, you’ll walk beside a tranquil stream, enhancing the serene atmosphere. The name “Tiu Kelep” comes from the Sasak language, where “Tiu” means pool and “Kelep” means fly. In contrast, “Sendang Gile” is derived from a local legend about a prince who hid behind the waterfall to escape a mad lion. Both waterfalls are believed by locals to have healing properties. After visiting the waterfalls, we will return to the hotel for lunch.
