Itinerary: Start and ending in Sembalun Village (sembalun – sembalun crater rim – summit)
Day 0
Upon your arrival in Lombok, whether by plane or boat, our team will greet you and provide transportation to our hotel and office in Senaru. Upon reaching Senaru, you’ll meet our staff to finalize your registration and participate in a brief orientation with your guide. During this session, you will familiarize yourself with the trekking procedures and prepare for the adventure ahead.
It is advisable to arrive no later than one hour before sunset, allowing you to visit the Sindang Gile and Tiu Kelep Waterfalls. While same-day arrival for trekking is possible, we recommend arriving the day prior to ensure a smooth start without any potential delays.
Day 1: 11-12 hours
At 6:30 AM, our guide will greet you in the hotel lobby before accompanying you to the Rinjani Information Center (RIC) in Sembalun Lawang Village (1,156 m). There, you’ll meet your guide to organize the National Park entry tickets. The trek starts with a gentle ascent across open grasslands, commonly used for cattle grazing by local communities.
After a rest break at Pos 1 Pemantauan (1,300 m), approximately three hours from Sembalun, we continue to Pos 2 Tengengean (1,500 m), offering picturesque vistas of Mt. Rinjani’s summit (3,726 m). Following another hour’s climb to Pos 3 Pada Balong (1,800 m), we begin the next phase, a gradual three-and-a-half-hour ascent through the pine-like Casuarina species, known locally as Cemara. During this stretch, keep an eye out for signs of wild pigs and long-tailed grey macaque monkeys as we make our way to the campsite at Sembalun Crater Rim (2,639 m).
Day 2: 8-9 hours
At 2:00 AM, we will have a light breakfast and begin the challenging three-hour climb to the summit (3,726 m). Upon reaching the top, you can relish the pride and satisfaction while enjoying the breathtaking sunrise views across the Wallace Line to Bali, Mt. Agung, and Sumbawa. At 6:30 AM, we begin our descent back to Sembalun Crater Rim Camp for breakfast.
After breakfast, we will continue descending to Sembalun Village. The descent includes stops at Pos 3 (1,800 m), Pos 2 (1,500 m), and Pos 1 (1,300 m). The final stretch brings us back to the Rinjani Information Center (RIC) in Sembalun (1,156 m), where a car will be waiting to take you to your next destination, completing the trek around 3:00 PM – 3:30 PM.
